Ben was diagnosed with leukaemia out of the blue, his diagnosis was on a Friday and he started chemotherapy on the Monday. He carried out a brave battle for 13 months never returning home, living in a hospital room with restricted visitors. He lost his battle in December 2018 aged 15 years old.
My brother Anthony was diagnosed with prostate cancer aged 48, he had a good 10 years after diagnosis due to modern medication. The prostate cancer finally caught up with him and he lost his battle 9 months after Ben aged 59 in September 2019.
Anthony and Ben had several things in common with their struggle with cancer – no complaining, no why me and they both remained so positive.
The Camino del Norte is a 537 mile walk along the Northern Spanish coastline to Santiago. I will be funding the trip. All the donations will go to Young Lives vs Cancer who provided support and accommodation for us close to the hospital so that we could be with Ben, also to Prostate Cancer UK in memory of Anthony.
If you would like to sponsor me that will be great.
