Very attentive staff and  good bacon rolls to start the day.  The 9 hole Texas Scramble over the Academy course in the morning provided a great warm-up and a prelude to the main event. The winning team was made up of Digs, Mani and  Dave Gibson with a score of 18.7.  

Lunch was a really excellent lasagne, salad and garlic bread. Huge portions that left some of you wondering if you’d be able to swing a club afterwards.  

The weather stayed fine for the afternoon play. Once again the prizes were spread around with accuracy rewarded with two nearest the pin prizes going to Ian Whiteley on the 6th and Peter Whittaker on the 15th.  The recommendation by the pro shop of the 15th hole for the second nearest the pin left Jill feeling embarrassed - a tricksy par 3 over a very large piece of water, and Peter was the only name on the marker.  

Runner up for the Spring Cup with 34 points was Diggory Little and the winner was Debbie Bomyer with a marvellous 36 points. 

Thanks very much to Dave Emburey who negotiated a great package for us and in addition a four ball voucher which we would encourage you to bid for in an online auction…..look out for an email.  And of course we would be nowhere without the ongoing efforts of Jill, Jim and Tony.

Our next event is at Kirtlington (in Kidlington, Oxon) on Friday 21st June.  This will be a new venue for some of us..   Details to follow but we hope for fair weather and a good turnout.  See you then!
