20 of us played 18 holes in the sunshine on Friday 26th May competing for the Spring Cup. Very good bacon rolls/coffee on the patio to start and drinks, still in the sunshine, on the patio after golf. Very nice. The chicken was a little tough but you were all too polite to say so!! and it wasn’t enough to spoil a great day.

The course was looking excellent although I think we all found the greens tough.

Ian W and David L cheered us up once more with their golf attire, and Carol was particularly pleased that Ian’s shirt matched the wallpaper in her downstairs loo.

Unfortunately Liz, your Chair, was unable to play due to an injured hand but joined us later to present the prizes.

The pro’s suggestion of Nearest the Pin in 2 on the 12th left us all a bit speechless, but since the first group forgot to put out the marker it didn’t matter as nobody got on the green anyway ! A hasty amendment to change the 12 to a 16

and cross out “in 2” and the problem was solved.

So well done to Dave E for being Nearest the Pin on the 4th, and to Mani for Nearest the Pin on the 16th (beating the Handicap Sec - not very wise Mani…)

Considering it’s a tough course there were some good scores.

The Runner Up on countback over David Laurence, with 33 points, was Keith Marley.

And congratulations, with 34 points and the winner of The Spring Cup, go to Ian Whiteley.

Hope you enjoyed the day. Our next event is on Thursday 22nd June, NB yes Thursday, at Welwyn Garden City. I’ll send out a separate notice in a couple of days.

Cheers

Jill
