Here is your ’Information Pack’ for next Friday at Aylesbury Vale GC !
Mindful that we have new members, I have included info that some of you don’t need.
Championship Day is always played with your handicap peers (although the ‘peer groups’ are not necessarily in handicap order because of other considerations, ie buggy sharing, lunchtime turnaround etc.)
There are 4 categories of OUGS membership, and there are trophies applicable to various categories -
Cat 1 - Current and retired OU staff who are Ordinary OUGS members.
Cat 2 - Current OU staff who are not OUGS members.
Cat 3 - Former OU staff who are Ordinary OUGS members.
Cat 4 - Associate Members of OUGS, which includes family members as well as those with no other other OU association.
**********
In order of importance the trophies are -
The John Boulton  Rosebowl (The Open University Champion Golfer)
36 hole Scratch.  Cats 1 and 2
The Newbould Plate, 36 hole Stableford, OUGS Cats 1, 3 and 4
The Massey Cup, 18 hole Stableford, OUGS Cats 1 and 3.
The Walton Cup, (new this year) 18 hole Stableford, all OUGS members, ie Cats 1,3 and 4.
The Associate Cup, 18 hole Stableford, OUGS Cat 4

NB, we rarely have a Cat 2 entrant.
If only one competitor is eligible to win a particular trophy, then that trophy will not be awarded.
We only award one trophy per person so you will be awarded the most important one.
Guests can only win NP, NPin2 or LD, though a spectacular performance may merit a prize organised on the day!
Men play off the yellow tees.  Ladies play off the red tees but score off the yellow card.  Ladies will receive 2 equalising shots - these will be shown on your card.
There will be a -
Nearest the Pin on the 17th.
Nearest the Pin in 2 on the 11th
Longest Drive on the 9th.
If you’re playing 36 holes then you get 2 cracks at them……..
Your tee times will follow on Monday when final numbers are confirmed.  I will ensure that people playing in the morning will have an adequate turnaround time for their afternoon tee time.    If you are just coming for the afternoon round and having lunch please allow plenty of time for lunch - NB players in buggies will be near the front of the field.
As previously mentioned, it is traditional to change for dinner on Championship Day - nothing ponsy, smart casual 😁.
I’ll email you again shortly.
Cheers
Jill
